Hey buddy, can you spare a dime? [Sat, 20 Jul 2002 | 5:20 AM]

5:20 AM - Hey buddy, can you spare a dime? - Please check out Mistress Sheila's page for a shameless request for money. She's going through some tough financial times right now so if you can spare a buck or two, she'd really appreciate it. -- JohnPaul

Iron wood? [Tue, 16 Jul 2002 | 8:35 PM]

8:35 PM - Iron wood? - After a 533 mile journey (8-9 hours due to traffic around St. Paul and other clogs), we made it to Ironwood, Michigan to play and frolic at the Upper Great Lakes Ren Faire. It was their first year in a new location (a beautiful park far away from modern buildings and stuff). I was joined by Mistress Willa and Mistress Sheila along with Willa's best friend from Georgia. We roamed the small festival and played with patrons and just generally caused trouble.

On Sunday, I found the sidewalk chalk... And the helium. Two of my favorite things (now!). Heh.

There was a Tavern serving beer on Saturday only so Sheila had to find somewhere else to hang out on Sunday. She found the petting zoo goats.

A TV news gal showed up on Sunday, too, and she taped for hours. Our friends Shattock made the 10pm news, and Willa got interviewed! In fact, the gals were the logo above the newscaster's head as they went to show the news clips. I was shown about 5 or 6 times, including a bit where Willa was berating me: "I swear I'm going to put a curse on you!"

Great stuff, and tons of fun! If they can turn down (read that as off) the PA systems and amps next year, I'd like to bring the full Washer Well Wenches up to play. It is a wonderful small event with alot of great potential.

And they fed us.

Mmmm. Thanks, Mary! -- JohnPaul

7:39 PM - WOW!! - The Upper Great Lakes festival was lots of fun. We even got on the news. We are stars up there. Next year will be even better. One lesson learned, never give sidewalk chalk to JP and the wenches.

There will soon be a penny jar going up to help Sheila in her current hard times. I would appreciate any help our fans would give me. Thank you guys!!!! -- Sheila

12:14 AM - Stardom... - It was really hard to keep the ego in check this weekend at the Upper Great Lakes Ren Faire in Ironwood, MI. We were treated like super stars! Nothing makes us feel better than to walk up to the front gate and hear, "The wenches are here!"

And we got on the news! Hee hee. It said, "Mistress Willa, Fair Participant" below me while I talked about being a wench. It was cool :)

Now we're home after our 8+ hour car ride with Wanda of the back spasms. That's a tale for telling over a campfire some night. -- Willa

The Queen of the Wenches speaks at last! [Wed, 10 Jul 2002 | 8:05 PM]

8:05 PM - The Queen of the Wenches speaks at last! - Sorry I haven't updated since ARA...I'm sure you all were waiting with bated breath (hopefully not with whiskey).

I'm missing doing the shows, but I surely am not missing performing in the wonderful heat of Iowa summers. I think maybe we should do shows in Alaska during July & August. Yeah.

This coming weekend (July 13 & 14) you can catch a glimpse of me with John-Paul and Mistress Sheila as we invade the Upper Great Lakes Ren Faire in Ironwood, Michigan. And I'll have my beloved sister, Wanda, home from the convent for a short visit. I'll try and corrupt her nicely before sending her back to the nuns. -- Willa

6:25 PM - Did the faire stop, someone add 25cents - MO, IA, MO, IA, SD, IA, Home. What a ride.
An Ren. Affair was great. I just finally come down off my Pickle/jolt high. Love the pub, any Pub that opens and closes according to the wench show times is a MUST have at any faire, doesn't hurt that the bar keeps were so darn cute. Like my bracelet with my kids name engraved in it? Can't have one its a 1 of a kind from "An Affair of the Rose", OK if you ask Tom and can pay the fee you could have one too, but use your own kids names. ARA was a fun time can't wait until next year DK.

This weekend 7/13 I will be co-hosting a benefit dance with "Generation Gap", for the family of Cam Stambro. Cam was the Cedar rapids man that died when the boom truck he was working in malfunctioned. Anyone in the CR area interested in attending please email me. A Wench with a microphone and a band of good looken men, is sure to be trouble of the good kind. -- Keirra
